A weekend in Limoges: our two-day itinerary

Stopping along the A20 or planning a weekend in Haute-Vienne? Two days give you time to discover several sides of Limoges without rushing. This suggested itinerary can be adapted to the weather, opening hours and your interests. greet hotel Limoges Nord is on the outskirts, near the A20: allow for transport into the city centre.

Day one: explore the old town at your own pace

Start around the central market halls and the Boucherie district. Timber-framed streets and small squares make this an enjoyable area to explore on foot. Our planning tip is to combine these nearby sights in one outing, leaving time for lunch or the shops. Enjoying one district is often more rewarding than squeezing in too many short stops.

In the afternoon, head towards Saint-Étienne cathedral and the Évêché gardens overlooking the Vienne. This can be the quieter part of the day. If the weather turns, choose an indoor visit from the tourist office's programme rather than keeping to an outdoor itinerary at all costs.

Day two: discover Limoges porcelain

The Adrien Dubouché National Museum is a useful introduction to ceramics. Check its official website for opening times and visiting arrangements before setting out. If you also want to visit a manufacturer, choose it in advance and check booking requirements: a museum and a working workshop do not necessarily welcome visitors in the same way.

Leave a comfortable gap between your visit and the journey home. For a short break, we suggest choosing one main cultural visit on the second day, with a walk afterwards if time allows. Activities and admission tickets are separate from your hotel booking.

Plan your arrival at the hotel

greet hotel Limoges Nord offers 72 rooms, Wi-Fi, air conditioning and a free 68-space car park. Reception is staffed 24 hours a day, including by a night receptionist, so you can arrive at any time after your visits. Families requiring connecting rooms should contact us in advance; these are available on request and subject to availability.

A local homemade breakfast is a good way to begin the next part of your itinerary. If you wish to dine on site, Déguste opens Monday to Friday and is closed on Saturday and Sunday. Plan your weekend dinner separately when organising your stay.

Book your stay in Limoges

Explore the room types, then check availability and booking conditions on ALL Accor. Groups can send their dates and party size for a quote. A quote request does not constitute a confirmed booking.
